Leather settees are those great items that we never consider buying, if we are on a tight budget. I like to compare them to oak flooring or the memory foam mattresses – if you are on a budget you will probably go for cheap laminate flooring or the simple pocket sprung mattress. Just like all other types of furniture, a leather settee can be a good purchase but also a very bad one if you decide to go with the cheapest possible piece available. That does by no means mean you should not look at affordable settees, but it certainly means you should pay attention to some important details that will help you buy a  settee that will last a long time and turn out to be a fantastic investment for years to come.

Get a discount. There are several different ways to get a discount for a leather settee that you want. Most often you will be able to negotiate it if you buy the leather settee with cash. You should get at least 5 percent if not 10. In the end it depends on your negotiating skills.

Buy your leather settee on sale

Buy settees that are already on sale. This way you might not get exactly the leather sofa you wish for, but will end up saving more than 10 %. Settees on sale are usually on sale because they are one season old, but with leather furniture this is never a problem, because they need a lot more than just one season to go out of style.

You might want to take into consideration the option of buying a used settee. When buying used furniture you must always be very careful and inspect it thoroughly before buying it. Make sure there are no tears and that the base of the settee is not broken in any place. The problem with buying a used leather sofa is that there is no warranty. Once you bring it home, you are stuck with it and can not return it any more. Buying a sofa from people that are moving to some far place is generally a great idea, because the reason for selling is their move and not because there is something wrong with the settee.
